It was made by a bored pensioner. (lol, ok, that was a joke, but it was made by metaphorical "gangsters". I mean, religions hate each other 0_o) The Mayan calender..that's a different story. made about 5000 years ago...it has a third part to the calendar, translated to "the long count"..started at 1st august, 5000-something BC, and ends at apparently..21st December 2012. Why didn't they continue to count? because it will be when nothing on the world will be able to add another date onto it. Let's look at this scientifically though: Thanks to galaxy alignments simulation technology, we can see where everything in our universe will be at a given date. Jupiter, (which has started a new theory...that it controls the suns gravity and flares form sunspots, is 99% true. Why? because it is obvious, if you know the facts..which would take too long to read. In other words, Jupiter has a significantly different orbit to anything else. It's centre of gravity...is OUTSIDE the sun..and it is a planet. This means that it can cause radiation to flirt out anywhere.) will apparently be aligned with the sun - and so will all the other planets, on the 21st of December 2012. Jupiter will force one planet that is in a correct position (for life to form) to fall. Slowly but surely, earth has been moving further and further to the bottom of the galaxy. This means that according to the Mayan calendar, until 21/12/12, Earth will be "above" the galaxy..along with everything else. But on this day, Earth will be directly at the side of the galaxy....and then after the day, we will see the sun from below it. The atmosphere will collapse, we will probably boil and then explode thanks to radiation...before a meteor even hits. But I said "PROBABLY"...because there is obviously a 10 million to 1 chance that a meteor will hit us..well, it WILL, if the atmosphere collapses, but we still somehow survive, then the meteor will get through because it won't be able to burn up. It will hit in the exact same crater as the one that wiped out the dinosaurs - in Mexico. This will do.....well...IMMENSE damage to the world, and then it will officially be doomsday. It HAS to be true, I mean, the Mayan Calendar was made more than 5000 years ago...and they predicted this day? Then we look at the simulator and all the planets will align? And coincidence number 2 - a meteor will pass (or hit, if this is true...) earth on the day? I'm convinced. After all, we can't live for ever, so we're screwed anyway.
if all the planets line up the gravitational pull will cause a major earth quake
No, they won't. That's ridiculous Pseudo-science people are spreading to try and get people to believe this hoax. Read what NASA has to say on the subject:
