Hello there Ickes i am fascinated by this elusive weather machine you so passionately talk about.

I have so many questions to ask you, where do i begin.

What happened to it ? and will it strike again this winter?

Who did you say created this machine and why?

Will there be more? and is there any flying over Russia?

Thank you please, that will be all for now.

I won't get into specifics since I am not a scientist, but all the goodies of a strong peak solar cycle lends to warmer conditions, the same events that accompany sun spots. Solar Flares, radiation, storms, etc... It takes very little research to confirm that if the solar cycle dosn't take off we can expect more cold climatic changes, if it does take off and to fast we might see outages in the power grid similar to 1989 when Quebec power grid was shutdown from solar flairs.

It was humor, man. Lighten up Frances. If the world is going to end in 2012 shouldn't we all just get along?

By the way, I am not an Al Gore basher but I do find it ironic that the poster child for global warming has a house that uses 20 times the energy that the average american household burning through 20000 kilowatt hours a month when most peoples homes average about 1000. Al Gore's carbon footprint is the size of Shaq's game shoes compared to a ballet dancer's foot.

AGain, this is HUMOR...a FUNNY HA HA...well...a funny ha ha..not that funny ..and not that much ha has ..very few LOL and absolutely no ROFLMAOUMCOOMN (....until milk comes out of my nose)

Where is Al Gore inventing something like the internet so that millions of computer banks have to be created that require billions of btu's and watts to stay cool through air conditioning systems that are powered by electricity that is primarily made through carbon emitting coal burning electrical generations plants that create greenhouse gases that causes global warming when you need him?

I mean we are all on computers right now causing global warming folks and it is Al Gore's fault!!!

Run run for your lives...and unplug those dang computers!!!!!

Funny  , oh well one note, if we don't start getting some good sun spot activity quickly we might be in for lots of very cold winters, and cooler summers. Look up info on our next solar cycle 24, which should have started in 2007. We have only had a hand full of feeble cycle 24 spots and still having cycle 23 spots, while this can be a normal transition it is very late and NASA has pushed back their prediction twice now that I know of, (hearsay from ham buddies). There are two schools of though about this cycle, one it is slightly possible me might enter another long "mini ice age" as the maunder minimum, late 1600's to early 1700's, which we could exist through, or it could begin ramping up (the sooner the better), think of it this way... The Sun has X amount of energy that it releases within its 11 year cycles, mostly near or at the peak year of the solar cycle, year 2012 for cycle 24. The longer the Sun goes spotless the more energy it will eventually release. Back in the 1800's I think there was a similar cycle and when the Sun finally had huge X-Class flairs and mass ejection it burned up telegraph lines and set fields on fire. I we should have large flairs like that in this day of technology, well, just keep your board games for something to pass the time, haha...

Apologies if I am running over old info here, I am newbie and have not read back through many postings.

Scott

Some good search terms:
maunder minimum
solar cycle 24 +"x class"
solar cycle 24 +"power grid"
solar cycle 24 +spotless
solar cycle 24 +late

Just shows ignorance does it not? To think some people do not know that Australia and New Zealand have their Winter opposite to Northern Hemisphere countries is beyond belief, not only that but to be so smug and patronising thinking they are actually right.

I live in Australia where it's summer and it's probably been the hottest summer ever here.

Summer eh? In february? You may be on the other side of the world but im pretty sure our seasons arent that far apart.
