From a Christian point of view, one must read the bible and add the amount of days a person lived in the Old Testament, from the written record since Adam, and the generations recorded in the bible throughout its stories, will bring you to the date of Jesus's birth, which is believed to be at 1 BC., some argue that their math takes them to 3,4 or 5 BC. The Hebrew date, for 2009 is 5769-5770 since the Hebrew year begins in April ( Hebrew Tishi ). The Hebrew date, skips a year in the transition of BC to AD. BCE - CE ( Common Era ). Now the Gregorian Calendar, our calendar, is not a good calendar for two main reasons. It dates its origin to the Early Christian church led by guess who a MAN named Gregory, and it lacks the close record that the Hebrew records show.

The second part is that it only clocks us by keeping a record of the sun and not of the moon. It's something like keeping track of Hours, but leaving the minutes and seconds out, thus you only know when 12 O-Clock is. The Hebrew calendar functions with lunar cycles and sun cycles. The Christian calendar in reality is based on Faith and lacks an accurate date. If you read the Bible, which you really should. God, The Lord of Lords, never says on Dec. 12, 2012 I will come to judge. He knows our days are messed up but yet He works with us, by saying when you see these signs, do this or that. Or as in the recorded history of the Bible, he simply says do this NOW. Mind you I'm paraphrasing. The Hebrew record appears to be most accurate within one or two years since the record of creation, as mentioned in the Bible. Now in looking at the Mayan Calendar, it appears that they have kept a close record of their days, but it is missing old history records to keep it in check or to sustain it. We assume that they kept some mental note of such history and it is evident by their hieroglyphics that they also kept a written record, but of kings and when according to the stars they ruled.

The Mayans, Aztec's, Inca's calendar is an agricultural calendar, it is based on lunar, solar and other planets. It is used as a predictor of agricultural issues, since they were aware of their surroundings and knew by the earth's position, in relationship to the sun, when the seasons began and ended. Even you should be able to do that, or ask grandpa for the Farmer's Almanac. The Mayan long count calendar records things from the past and sets them into a circle which is based on a parallel scale to their belief that other similar cycles of life have occurred and ended. That is why many believe the truth that 21-12-12 is the completion of a cycle, which is again to begin. Therefor NOT the END of The World, Just a New season dated Day ONE again. Much like our clock which continues when it reaches 12 O-Clock. As a Christian, I have observed that throughout life man ( Me and Others ) have observed the works and fingerprints of a Deity (GOD). I can not deny such existence of a Deity and I can certainly not deny my own by claiming that I don't see the blue print of his works. My belief in GOD comes from the fact that as I live, I continue to see HIS presence via HIS works, and I have experienced his presence through prayers and dreams. I'm 100 % sure that HE is my Creator and Savior.

The friendship I have developed with HIM is based on the fact that HE is patient with me, he shows me HE loves me in different ways, HE guides me, and at proper times, HE even punishes me. I hate being punished but I also know it is for my own good and it is the way he re-enforces my resolve to do good and not evil. It is a relationship with Christ that shows HE accepts my friendship, since it is HE who initiated it first, by Creating me in HIS mind, and by HIM seeking me. Just as HE is presently indirectly seeking YOU right NOW. I'm not ritualistic since HE detests such actions, by what HE says in the Bible. I work hard at not being a Pharisee. It is a friendship like the friendship of a brother with brother, and a son with a caring and loving father. Mind you, GOD does not tell you what you will do, he tells you what he expects from you, and he tells you what the outcome of your choices will be. And he gives you the choice to love HIM and do as he asks, or to hate HIM and go into oblivion by your actions. Its much like, HE can tell you that the dark road has many deep pot holes and that he has a flashlight which you can choose to use. Christ is the Flashlight, and If you choose not to use it, then you personally take the chance of falling into a pot hole of many throughout your lifetime, which eventually leads to the final deepest pit of destruction, and not to the way of eternal safety in HIS arms. Do I fear HIM, Yes. Do I love HIM, Yes, Very Much. Do I hurt when it appears that HE turns HIS back on me, Yes. But I immediately recognize that it is I who turned my back on HIM, by sinning and by not seeking HIS warm hand. I have observed that GOD/Christ does not change, it is I, who changes either by my choice to do evil or by choosing to do good. HE prefers that I do good. The fact that we all sin is known by HIM and is the reason by which we are punished even to death.

The beauty of the entire universe is that GOD is merciful and HE extends his hand to ALL of us, and cleanses us by HIS Loving Grace. It is not my actions of good deeds that open the gates of heaven for me to enter, as if Any of us should be capable of opening. Doing good is perfect in his eyes, but unless he washes our sin away with HIS Grace, we are unclean, undesirable and unable to save ourselves. Our Souls do not die when Satan accelerates our death, we may end up in Hell, but Satan can not destroy us. We punish our Souls when we do evil and fail to do the WILL of GOD, for HIS glory. In other words DO NOT fear Satan, but fear GOD who can destroy BODY and SOUL. Instead command Satan to leave your side by asking him to leave your presence in the name of JESUS CHRIST. he hates that, because he knows we know the truth about death and know he has no power over us when we have GOD in our eyes and in our heart.

Joshhh, if you seek the key to the universe and as to the time table of GOD, you must seek HIM first, by reading the dusty Bible in that shelf, by seeking a Bible teaching church and by asking a Bible teaching pastor to help you find some of the answers written in the Bible. God does not care about what time it is, he lives in the past, present and future. That is why he is considered to be a CONSTANT. Constant and never changing, therefore HIS word is TRUE and ACCURATE. Time and dates, were set by GOD so that when we look for HIM, we can find a reference point ( Christ ). Without a reference point in our physical or spiritual world, we have no direction. Much like GPS, without reference points we do not know where we are or in which direction we are heading. In clearer terms Joshhh, the dates are a reference point in a civilization's time table which gave the people of those civilizations a reference point, according to their best calculations. As a man, that is what I have observed and concluded, but it appears to me that the only one who truly knows the exact day of creation and Day number one, is GOD. So I say, ask GOD to reveal HIMSELF to you, work hard to develop and maintain a friendship with HIM and simply, be his. Then ask away. God does say in the Bible " Seek GOD first and ALL you ASK will then be added"," Seek and You WILL find, Ask and you SHALL receive".
