The Future

What do you think will happen?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I see it, sooner or later there is going to be a massive social change. In particular, I think that (admittedly in a long time) capitalism is not going to work in the future, for the simple reason that we will have enough stuff to dampen out the profit motive. Providing there are no wars or anything to damage economic growth, it's only a matter of time before we don't need to do our working weeks any more. Automation will probably provide for more and more of our needs, until it comes to the point where making money is really not such as pressing concern.

And where will we go from there, humanity?

EDIT:
"Providing there are no major wars"

Assuming we are still around, china will rule the world along with russia and india. That's my opinion, i don't know about war. Mankind is like a plague, we consume everything in sight. When the food runs out there will be war, it's that or mass starvation and with our record it's inevitable.

Well considering we are now on the verge of, or deep into a Depression, war is the only outcome, and these wars (plural) are going to take out the wasteful and useless and put up a new hegemony for us to serve!
Oh how we liked our democracy, flawed as it is.
