the truth. Do you remember what we discussed about the arrogance of
Christian dogma? This is a perfect example of it. Do not take this the wrong way because I know you didn't mean it in this way. But it just can't be helped because arrogance is inherent in the dogma of all religions.
Bassman3223 wrote:As you probably know, the Bible says, knowledge can lead to arrogance. Because I'm so confident in what I believe it may seem like arrogance.
With all due respect, it is arrogance. But as you admitted, you are confident of what you believe in which is why you don't see it as such. I'm going to backquote you so you'll have a better perspective:
There are too many willing people our there ready to hear the truth, for us to waste our time on those who are not willing to research the evidence.. Your above statement tells me two things. 1) You alone hold the exclusive truth, to the exclusion of all others. 2) You could care less about
the truth of others. This is the very definition of arrogance!
Actually your above statement tells me three things. But we haven't come to that part yet.
If we were to sit down and have a cup of coffee and discuss this subject, I wouldn't sound arrogant.
Uh, yes it would! In fact, if you and I had this conversation over a cup of coffee and you made the above statement, I probably would have walked off. Why? Because if I stuck around I probably would say a few choice words I wouldn't mean. I would hate to lose you as a friend over something that can't be proven.
My intent on here was not to save souls. Its impractical to do that here. Like I said, unbelievers are on here asking questions. I don't see the harm in giving them my opinion.
I have no objections to your sharing your opinion. Heck, I encourage it! But if unbelievers are here asking questions, why do state,
There are too many willing people our there ready to hear the truth, for us to waste our time on those who are not willing to research the evidence..? How do you know these unbelievers haven't already researched what you call
evidence? You already know I have and I'm an unbeliever, of religions that is. Just out of curiosity, how much of the
evidence I presented have you researched? Do you understand the point I'm making?
And in case anyone is wondering, the
evidence I'm talking about is not in any of these forum threads. Bassman and I have had a very intelligent and cordial debate via PM's, without the tit for tat postings you see in this forum. I highly recommend it to anyone truly wanting to carry on a conversation without interruptions. I digress...
Anyway, the third thing I get from your above statement is that you were trying to convert. Had it simply been a conversation exchanging ideas, you would not have had the need to state you are wasting your time. So maybe you weren't consciously trying to save. But subconsiously you were.
Eternity is at stake. This is not to be taken lightly. IMHO.
While I completely understand you do not take eternity lightly, others may see it differently, as do I. BTW, for someone not trying to save souls, you sure seem awfully concerned about their eternity.

And while I do appreciate your concern, it is not warranted, IMHO. But thank you just the same.
BTW. I went to your website. Very cool. I recommend it to others.
Thanks! I try to keep it updated but sometimes it gets a bit overwhelming. Especially when I spend so much time here. That's one of the reasons I'm grateful this forum has a slower pace than others. Anyway, while I updated the playlist yesterday, I didn't find the time to update the comments. I'll probably do that tonight.
Have you checked out the music of Neal Morse yet? As mentioned, it's progressive
Christian rock with kicka** music. As the founder of Spock's Beard, when I saw Neal had released solo material I just had to add it to my collection. But when I received the first CD,
One, I thought Amazon had made a mistake. The first thought that went through my mind was, "I didn't order any
Christian music, so what gives?" But since it was Neal, I stuck it in the CD player and was blown away. I now own almost every one of his solo releases. I just tune out the lyrics.
If you're interested, I can email you a sample of one of his songs so you can hear before you buy. That's if you like prog rock.
