i don't think the Mayas where wrong about what is going to happen.
the world is not gonna die, but the humans that live on it.
well lets say that there are aliens, we don't know, never seen one.
but there are theory's:... here goes

the Mayas have foretold that the world is gonna die or is that what we say??
maybe it is the electric field that's gonna turn ( north pole becomes south pole) every 800,000 years it happens.

or like the Mayas said, the earth and the sun will be in one line with the milky way.
i do not know what is gonna happen then but for the humans (animals) it doesn't seem very good.

so there is still no end of the world in these theory's.

now lets say what everybody says
( the world is gonna die, we are gonna die, everything is gonna die)
tsunami's, comet, storms never seen before...??? these are things that have already happened.
that is the because of global warming. the big country leaders don't have a clue what is gonna happen.
now they tell everybody that it is the wrong date because they just can't believe something is gonna happen.

the Mayas also have a calender that goes to the year 4427 or so. i don't care, there is something (don't know what) that is gonna happen on 21/12/2012
if not then you don't need to believe a thing that other people say. ( just listen to what you think)

I don't think so, why are they thinking about that in 2012? they will die or we will die ? why ? if they wanna die now just let them kill themselves don't scare us. Because we don't believe you all, who likes 2012 as the end of the world. ok? shut up you freaks! and take hell away from us!

If 2012 is a joke, then no problem but if it's true?

God (yes I believe in God) put us here for one reason. If we lived a "good" life He (He maybe she or it-I don't care what) would accept us back after death. God does not intervene in any way - He leaves it all up to us individually to deal with what life deals us. If He interceded in any way (demanding prayer, sacrifice, specific religion) then it is not a true indication of who/what we are.
If he changed things along the way then He has affected the outcome and the whole journey was a waste of time since he would already know the outcome.
If the random actions of the universe have tossed a comet at us He did not direct it at us. This is my belief and to me it is the only logical explanation.

First things first im am not religious. second is that it's not a comet that's supposed to destroy the human race in 2012. i don't even know where an asteroid came into this at. the planets are supposed to align with the Orions belt which WILL (there is no question to this) we WILL be knocked off balance and off course when it happens. our poles will shift to a crooked angle. our planet will shake to attempt to renew the poles into their original positions. During this time our planet will be struck with storms and hurricanes. so although i don't believe this will end the world it will bring many deaths and perhaps the beginning of the end of the human race.

2 the bible is a story that tries to have you live your life better. i believe Jesus was real but there is no god.

3. if the bible is correct most people don't realize that Jesus would be Muslim. (he was born around Nazareth which is Muslim territory. no bone's of white or black men have been found in that region dating back to the time of Jesus Christ)

4. The oldest bones ever found actually belong to a African American man.

These are important things to look at and remember just one more time, i respect Christians as long as they respect me. i do not say these things to insult you.

For all you guys who don't believe in this 2012 stuff. At least do some research before saying that it is a joke. Read some books or watch the history channel whatever... Be more open minded. It doesn't mean you are just because you are open minded!!!!

WILL, WILL, WILL.....WON'T. If there's no question as you say, then prove it. Meanwhile, I've got astronomical software that says otherwise 'professor'. And it's not disinformation (before you go there), I use it all the time as a reference for my scope, so do hundreds of thousands of others. Very accurate. There's also a site called solar system live where you can type in a given date and see where the planets will lie at that point in time. Have a look.

Why scare people with stuff you must know is false? Go back to killing things on your xbox.

It's really hard to say what will happen. I've read books on stuff like the sun will warm up and vegetation will become less over the next 70- 80 years. I've heard about a planet X...etc. All i know that as it gets closer people are going to go crazy with fear. I admit I am one myself. I am so scared, all I want is the right answer. As humans we have survived many things since way before Christ. Is this just another challenge?

How exactly can we align with Orions' belt? It's just three stars, they're not even really in a straight line, they just appear to be from Earth.

Finally some sane people online. That the Mayan calendar ended in 2012 has no bearing on modern society. Their civilization ended long before that, for us this date is no different than any other. Mother nature will do what she will, the sun will rise and set, and the day will pass just like 12-31-1999. The biggest worry are the nutty people! And if something out of the ordinary does happen, well it just will, not because anyone has PREDICTED it. Do any of the 2012 predictors have next Saturday's winning lottery numbers?
