The Mayan calendar ends on 12/21/2012. Or in Europe that would be written out as 21/12/2012. Either way it means December 21, 2012. The Mayans were a scary group of people. There is not doubt that this end date worries us. According to “interpretations” they received their information from an outside source. (UFO or Alien). The “Kukulcan” (as he was called) provided the Mayans with their astronomical information. Who was this guy? The Mayans described him as a tall white man who came from the sea. Some people argue that the Mayans were only predicting the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new one. But, maybe the Mayans knew the date that Wormwood was going to hit the earth.
What ever happens in the year 2012 or beyond, you and I will eventually die and leave this world. Don’t be afraid, if you believe in the Lord God, you will live forever. Time is in Gods hands not ours. He is the creator of this complex planet and universe and He knows what will happen to us all. He has a plan for everyone and everything. There is no God, Prophet or what so ever that protects you.
They don’t exist, wake up!! They didn’t make the world and everything on it!! Why not?? Easy, all the study’s that were made about life are all going back (and not further) to 10.500 BC, that’s about 11.500 years ago. Your God, Prophet or whatever you believe in is 2009 years old………Think further please!?
My opinion is: there is something to happen out there, but not that the world is gonna be destroyed by an over-sized rock. The line-up story is a good and trustworthy explanation. I do believe that our neighbor Andromeda is closing in on our galaxy and will collide, but that’s going to happen about a few billion years from now.

Many religions have predicted that one day the world will end. Jesus also talked about the last day but did not know when, only God knows he said.
However, according to the bible, the world will end when every prediction has passed. I think, one day this world will end surely, but I am not sure 2012 is correct.
Who knows and how it will come to end this world.
Hopefully nothing will happen to the earth or at least minor climate changes.
BTW thanks to Christians we will never be able to find out how the Mayans predicted the future.
I believe in god. Jesus said in the bible that only god knew when the world will end. Besides, if the Mayans were able to predict the end of the world, then how come they could not predict that the Spaniards were coming to take over their land, kill their people and convert them to Christianity. That is why I do not believe in the whole Doomsday theory.

The bible (biblioteque) a collection of books, was first orally passed down from generation to generation it was only around 2000 years ago that they started to be written down (new testament letters-later found and collected to make up the Bible as we know it today)….My point really is that these things were said a very long time ago, and yes at the time NO ONE knew when the end times would be, although some may have received visions(i.e. revelations of John the Baptist) they did not know when these revelations would occur. They all agreed that there would be signs though!!! Maybe…just maybe we have received these signs and are being shown NOW, when these things will occur.
Also please NOTE….even though there may not be any real evidence of a comet, there is scientific proof that the Sun goes through cycles every 11 years. That is a FACT proven by hard science. these cycles are solar storms known as sunspots. right now we (the sun) are experiencing an all time low of sunspot activity. The next wave of sunspot activity will occur in the year……….

The Mayans Predicted there would be a new Messiah…. and now we have know about Jesus, so do you believe now? this apparently is a true statement, because it was in their predictions alongside the 2012 thing.
Their Calendar ends at 2012 on the 21st of December, probably that does not mean the end of the world, but probably something will happen, but no one knows exactly what.

In the name of ALLAH, all things are determined by the all-creator, the master of universe. ALLAH, he said “I who created the universe and its contents, and I also arranged”. not alien to determine, because they also created by ALLAH, part of the universe. For the faithful to ALLAH, not a problem now, tomorrow or in 2012, Resurrection. because there is no fear in his heart.
Why worry so much when nobody is for sure what is going to happen & if it’s true, these are only predictions. You will know it when the time comes.
Whatever it may be, whether the word ends or not there are at least 3 more years to live. Live those 3 years happily and make others happy. But, don’t think about the 4th year (2012).
It might happen and might not it doesn’t matter because we are going to die eventually any way.

This planet is becoming over populated, resources are getting low, we are effecting the planet in ways it can not control, that we can not control. If the earth, this planet of life is to continue; then maybe a disaster of this magnitude would do good. Would help a planet survive because millions of selfish, self centered, egotistical, warmongers would perish. Religious texts state an end of the world because it instills a fear in people, people generally like to fear something it controls them.

this is all BS. have you guys ever heard of the judgement day or is it not printed in your so called holy book bible? if it isn’t there then just open the holy quran and read for yourself that the end of the world can’t be predicted, it may be now or whenever god wants. if any one (foolish Mayan’s) tell us that the world is going to end on 21.12.2012 then how foolish are we to believe such stupid things? how come they know the date of the apocalypse? well there are some indications in the holy quran that when we are near the end of the world there will be too much nudity, gay relations, etc. throughout the world. the biggest indication is that the sun will rise from the west instead of east just for few minutes and then it will go back to the east position. and after this it will totally depend on god when the apocalypse or the day of judgement will occur. but, until this last indication the world will never end. yes, we may face some natural disasters but not the apocalypse. one more indication is that the moon will break into pieces. you can find out if you have any doubt because what i am saying is 100% true. so, just think on my points and don’t be made fools by these f***ing Mayan’s.
The long calendar ends December 21, 2012. End that means it’s the end OF THAT CALENDAR and a new one starts. It’s that simple. But, there is a lot more money to be made by publishing companies, movie makers, etc. by pushing that the world will end in 2012, so lets buy the movie tickets, watch the advertising etc.

Many people here are trusting the Christian God to decide and eventually save (or doom) the world on 2012. But have they taken into account that the humans amount to over 7 billion right now and that Christians are a clear minority?
The Mayans were not Christians, in the first place, and Spanish Christian conquerors in the XV-XVI centuries drew all aborigine cultures in America almost extinct. They did this in the name of their God.
I do not think that the Mayans were thinking about US when they made their infamous calender.
So many different Gods, so many different beliefs… I accept your Faith as I accept so many other Faiths out there, but please, do not apply it at a planetary scale.

As a marketing campaign it’s brilliant – a masterpiece. But as a contribution to the human race it is absolutely vile. Has Hollywood finally lost the plot ?
actually yeah there is a point in believing the mayan calender theory as for the first time it is coinciding with the nostradamus prediction……so you never know what happens next …..so in my opinion live every moment of your life to the fullest and just enjoy!!!!!!!!!!
It could be sheer marketing, but I believe the public fears has been nourished by many web pages, groups and sects, well before the brilliant idea of making a film about this date was launched. IMO the film is taking profit of these fears and not the opposite.
It is similar to the Millennium Syndrome, people get crazy about millennium changes and this also happened at the transition from 999 to 1000 as I have read.
This same site holds some articles pointing to different reasons why the world will end soon.
It’s up to you to believe in pseudo sciences or not to.
